1. Get started

Sign in with Google or Apple, or choose the option to start without signing in. On your first use, an internet connection is needed to download themes and default puzzle settings.

As a guest, your photos, videos, and puzzle records stay on this device only. When you sign in later, your device records are transferred to that account. Groups and activity are available after signing in.

2. Explore today’s puzzle

Check the date and the themes written on each piece on the Today screen. For a sky theme, capture the sky on your way to work; for food, capture a meal. Interpret each theme in your own way.

You do not need to fill every piece at once. Add a moment whenever something catches your eye throughout the day.

3. Add photos and videos

Tap an empty piece to take a photo or video, or select media from your photo library. Check the device permission prompts when you first use the camera or library.

One media item remains for each date and theme. If you capture the same theme again, the item with the later capture time remains, so make sure it is the memory you want to keep.

4. Change layouts and themes

Use the layout button to change the puzzle arrangement, or press and hold a piece to choose its theme. You cannot select a theme already assigned to another piece on the same date.

You can change the layout and themes even after adding photos. Media whose theme leaves the layout is kept as unplaced media, rather than deleted. Select that theme again on the same date to bring it back.

Changes to today’s arrangement also update the settings used for future puzzles. Changes to a past date affect that date only.

5. Create personal themes

After signing in, use the + input in the theme picker’s edit mode to create a personal theme. Give a name to something you want to capture regularly.

Personal themes are only for your own daily puzzles and do not appear in group puzzles. Use a shared preset theme for moments you want to see together with your group.

6. Revisit your calendar

In the Records tab, select a date with a record to see its daily puzzle. Tap the small puzzle as a whole to open a larger view.

You can change layouts and themes for past dates too. To bring media back into view, choose its theme in that date’s puzzle.

7. Turn several days into a recap

Select the dates you want in Records, then use the create-log action to make a recap. Choose dates with records; tap a selected date again to remove it.

Review the recap and choose from the available frames. Once the video is generated, use your device’s sharing options to send it where you want.

Photos or videos that are not on your device may need to be downloaded first. Check your connection and free storage, and wait for video generation to finish.

8. Share themes in a group

After signing in, create a group or join using an invitation link or code. If a link does not open the app, copy it and paste it into the app’s invitation field. Opening a link alone does not complete joining.

Group puzzles bring together members’ moments under the same preset theme. Personal themes and unplaced media do not appear in groups.

What appears depends on the group’s sharing conditions and media synchronization. Before joining, check who will be in the group and what your photos contain.

9. Set reminders and group notifications

In Settings, choose whether to receive your puzzle reminder and set its time. Daily reminders are scheduled on your device and are available to guests too. A reminder is not sent for a day you have already completed.

Group notifications are push notifications about group activity for signed-in accounts. If notifications are missing, check both the app’s preferences and your device’s notification permissions.

10. Use offline and sync later

After the initial settings have been downloaded, you can capture and edit today’s puzzle with the settings stored on your device even if you lose your connection. Changes for a signed-in account sync with the server when connectivity returns.

Records that have not uploaded may still exist only on your device. Check sync status and any warnings before signing out or deleting your account. If multiple devices capture the same date and theme, the media with the later capture time remains.

11. Manage storage and your account

When signed in, clearing storage first syncs your records, then removes device copies of photos stored on the server and cached media. Media that has not uploaded is kept. Removed device copies can be downloaded again when needed.

Guest records have no server copy. Clearing guest storage or deleting app data cannot be undone, so consider signing in and transferring your records first.

You can request account deletion in Settings. Ordinary deletion has a 30-day grace period, during which you can cancel by signing in again with the same account. See the Privacy Policy for immediate deletion requests and the full handling rules.

12. Troubleshooting

If the camera or photo library will not open, check Puzzlog’s permissions in your device settings. If uploads or group loading stop, check your internet connection and try again.

If a record is missing, first check the date, signed-in account, and themes currently assigned to the puzzle. Unplaced media can reappear when you assign its original theme again.

If the problem continues, contact us with your device, OS and app versions, the screen and time of the issue, and steps to reproduce it. Do not send passwords, authentication information, or other people’s personal information.
